Leo Sachs was born in Frankfurt am Main, but he chose to live in Paris and was naturalised as French. He was son of the renown composer Jules Sachs. In his youth he showed a natural disposition for music, but he was by his family directed to business affaires. This was the reason why he eclipsed to Paris. There he was interested in every kind of manifestations of music, esp. from the “maitres de Pasdeloup”, Lamoureux, Colonne etc. He had lessons from Galeotti and in the following years he had much success with French en German music publishers en with the public.
