ADLER Ayal
Born in 1968 in Jerusalem. After receiving a diploma in piano and composition from the Rubin Conservatory (1986) he enrolled in the Jerusalem Rubin academy of Music. There, he completed a B.Mus. (1995) and an Artist Diploma (1997) in composition (with Honors). Between the years 1997 – 2001 he pursued a Doctoral degree in composition at McGill University in Montreal. Mr. Adler wrote music in various genres, including solo, chamber, vocal and orchestral works. His music was performed in Israel, Canada, the United States, Czech Republic, Rumania and Croatia. He won several awards, including: ACUM Prize (2003), Fulbright Grant and Dean's Honorary Prize (both in 1997), etc. He was nominated Composer-in-Residence for the McGill Symphony (2001) and the McGill Chamber Orchestra (1999). His work "Shades... to Colours" for piano and string quartet was performed in the 2005 ISCM World Music Days in Zagreb. Reminiscence for violin and piano will be premiered in Israel in February 2006 and will be performed in Sweden, Finland and England. During 2006 his music will be performed in Israel by the Rishon –LeZion Symphony, Israel Contemporary Players, Musica Nova, Meitar Ensemble and others. In 2001, Mr. Adler joined the Faculty of Theory in the Jerusalem Rubin Academy. He teaches various courses on music theory, analysis and composition. He also serves as Assistant Chair of the Interdisciplinary Music and Jazz Program. In 2002-2004 he was a board member of the Israeli Composers' League. A CD of his works was sponsored by the Culture Department of the Jerusalem Municipality in 2002, as part of the Jerusalem Artists Series. His music is published by the Israeli Music Institute (IMI).
