He studied composition and piano at the Conservatory in Prague and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where he holds the position of Head of Composition at present. As a composer his primary concern is with instrumental music, and he has produced works for a variety of combinations of instruments. He has also composed incidental music to a number of stage plays. He is founder member of the chamber ensembles MoEns, member of the ensemble Ars Cameralis and member of „Atelier 90“ - the Association of Composers and Performers of Contemporary Music. He is leading representant of the Czech composer´s middle generation.
