Information: Hubert Ferdinand Kufferath born Männheim 10-6-1816, died Brussel 23-6-1896. German composer, musikteacher and choirdirector. Hubert Ferdinand Kufferath got his first musiclessons from his brothers Louis en Johann Hermann. From 1833 till 1836 he had his musical education Friedrich Schneider in Dessau and from Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Ferdinand David in Leipzig. From 1841 till 1844 he was director of the mannenzangvereniging in Köln. From 1844 on Kufferath lived in Brussels, working as pianist, director, teacher and composer In 1871 he got a position as teacher compositions at the conservatory. Edgar Tinel and Auguste de Boeck were among his pupils Kufferath composed inter alia a symfphony, chambermusic, choirworks, songs and pianomusik.
