Information: Hebert Vazquez, composer (Mexico City, Mexico) was a pupil of Mario Lavista at the National Conservatory of Mexico City, studied composition with Leonardo Balada and Lukas Foss and electronic music with Reza Vali at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh (MM), and attended the University of British Columbia, Canada (DMA). Hebert has been awarded two Young Composers Fellowships of the National Fund for Culture and Arts, a Senior Composer Fellowship granted by the State Fund for Culture and Arts, and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship. In addition, Hebert is a member of Mexico's National System of Art Creators. Since 2000, he has served on the faculty at the University of Morelia. Hebert's works have been recorded by p the Arditti String Quartet, Norio Sato, Juan Carlos Laguna, the Onix ensemble, Ensamble 3, and Gonzalo Salazar, among others. He is the author of several articles on atonal music theory and analysis, and he has published the books Fundamentos teoreticos de la musica atonal (2006) and Cuaderno de viaje: un posible itinerario analitico en torno a Simurg y Ficciones de Mario Lavista (2009).
