Information: Eric Sessler’s works have been premiered throughout the United States and he has received numerous awards, including the ASCAP Foundation Award, the Charles E. Ives Scholarship from the American Academy of Arts & Letters, the Theodore Presser Music Foundation Award and grants from American Composers Forum, Meet the Composer, Philadelphia Musical Fund Society and the Philadelphia Music Project. Among the performing organizations to commission works from Dr. Sessler are The Curtis Institute of Music, The Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, The Music Group of Philadelphia, The Boyd/Goluses Duo, The Red Heel Theatre and Astral Artistic Services. Dr. Sessler’s music has been performed by some of the leading virtuoso performers in their respective fields including Jeffrey Khaner, flute; Alan Morrison, organ; Jason Vieaux, guitar; and Bonita Boyd/Nicholas Goluses, flute & guitar duo. Eric Sessler is a graduate of The Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School, having studied composition with Samuel Adler, David Diamond and Ned Rorem. Dr. Sessler currently teaches at The Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School, Pre-College.
