Information: Colin Broom b. 1973 Composer, arranger, educator, pianist and music notation software specialist. Born Glasgow. He studied music at the University of Strathclyde, graduating in 1997, at which point he began his career as a composer. In the same year he co-founded Invention Ensemble, a group of ten musicians dedicated to performing new and challenging music, of which he was co-director for the 6 years of their running. His composition 'Hammer', for Javanese Gamelan was performed at Bath International Music Festival and subsequently broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Other work has included music for 'Annotations' - a short film by French director Christophe Gerard, 'Faxmodementia 2.0' - for the Hebrides Ensemble and 'Jimi Savil: Killing Machine' for the Tyrolean Ensemble for Contemporary Music. He was a lecturer in music at the University of Strathclyde for 5 years and now teaches composition at Douglas Academy and the RSAMD. He has also completed a Masters degree in Composition at the RSAMD and is involved in the Ken project.
