Mushel is a pianist and composer who taught at the Conservatoire in the remote region of Tashkent in Uzbekistan. Life
He was a pupil of Gnesin, Aleksandrov and Miaskovsky. He also studied piano with Oborin at the Moscow Conservatiore. On graduating, Mushel taught at the Tashkent Conservatiore, becoming Professor of Compositionin 1976. He was influenced by local traditional music.
