Giora Schuster was born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1915. He obtained his musical education in his home town and at Cologne, where he also specialised in the building of musical instruments. Coming to Israel in 1938, he went to Freiburg in order to specialise under Prof. Fortner (1957/8), and after his return to this country began to have his works published and performed. In addition to composing, Schuster teaches Acoustics and Orchestration at the Tel Aviv Music Teachers' College, and at the Music lnstitute of the Teachers' Training College at Oranim (affiliated to the Haifa University). He was also active in the musical life in Rehovot where he lives. Giora Schuster died in Rehovot in 2006.
