Information: Peter Michael Braun (Composer) Born: December 2, 1936 - Wuppertal, Northrhine-Westphalia, Germany The Geman-born composer, Peter Michael Braun, studied at the National Academies of Cologne and Detmold with Frank Martin, Bernd Alois Zimmermann, Giselher Klebe and Herbert Eimert: composition and electronic music, with additional courses of music education, musicology and conducting. Since 1959 his works were continually performed in many countries, also during festivals like those of Darmstadt, Donaueschingen and Warsaw. He got commissions and awards from the state, cities, broadcasting stations and other organizations including residences at the Villa Massimo Rome and Cité Internationale des Arts Paris. Peter Michael Braun was lecturer at Cologne, in some Asian countries and at the Darmstadt summer courses. From 1978 to 2001 he was Professor for composition and musical theory at the National University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim. His creative output includes works of all kinds and genres: theatrical, orchestral, vocal, chamber, church and electronic music - also many analytical and theoretical lectures and essays. Three books have been published. Peter Michael Braun has often conducted and played his works as a pianist. He is member of the Société Européenne de Culture and the international Harmonics Network. Since 1981 he lives in Rhineland-Palatinate
