He has also earned the degrees of 'Master in Music' and 'Doctor in Musical Arts' from 'The Hartt School' (University of Hartford-USA). His main teachers have been Salvador Pueyo & James Sellars for composition, and Maria Jesús Crespo & Luiz de Moura Castro for piano performance. He has been awarded several prizes in Spain as well as in the United States including: 3rd Prize at the International 'Oreste Sindici' Composition Competition, Ceccano-Italia 2003; 2nd Prize at the 17th 'National Association of Composers USA'-Young Composers Competition (Los Angeles, California; USA), 1995; 2nd Prize at the International Composition Contest 'Francesc Civil / Ciutat de Girona' (Girona, Catalunya; Spain), 1996; 'Norman J. Bayles Memorial Award for Composition' ('The Hartt School', West Hartford, Connecticut; USA), 1993; 'IX Premio Constitución' ('Junta de Extremadura', Extremadura; Spain), 1991. He has taught piano, theory, harmony, orchestration and composition for several years in Spain as well as in the USA and in Colombia, working in many institutions as for instance 'Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu de Barcelona'; 'Conservatori de Grau Mitjà d'Igualada'; 'The Hartt School – University of Hartford' (USA) and 'Universidad EAFIT', being in this last one also the Dean of the Music Department. Lately he was the Dean of the 'Conservatorio de Música' of 'Universidad Nacional de Colombia', Bogotá, where he is also Associate Professor in Composition with exclusive dedication. At present he is on leave from his job in Colombia, devoting mainly his time to composing and residing in Mataró (Barcelona, Spain). His compositional output, nowadays with more than 60 titles, ranges from piano solo works, chamber music, vocal music, choir and symphonic pieces. In the past he revised and finished 'Quinteto para piano y cuerdas op. 49 en sol menor' based on the surviving original manuscripts by Enric Granados, published by Editorial Boileau and recorded under the label COLUMNA MÚSICA. Also with this label he issued a CD of his music entiteled 'Variations and Fantasy' which contains music for piano solo, piano four hands and chamber music, and is now preparing a second monographic production on his Lied output. He is the Director of the 'Colombo-Catalan Week', festival of Colombian and Catalan contemporary music, sponsored principally by the Institute Ramon Llull (Catalunya) and the National University of Colombia. Elected member of the American Music Honor Society 'Pi Kappa Lambda' in 1994 and member of the Associació Catalana de Compositors (ACC) since 1993.
