Information: ° Helchin, 27 januari 1873, - † Elsene, 04 januari 1955. Composer, conductor, directeur Gemeentelijke Muziekschool , Conservatoire Royal de Liège, teacher. His parents moved to Bruxelles what enabled him to study with N. Laoureux. At the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles he got a first prize for theoretical harmony (1895, G. Huberti) and fot violine (1896, E. Ysaÿe), i.a. with a Concertstück of his own. In 1899 he won the first great Prix de Rome for his cantate Cloches nuptiales (R. Verhulst, Francophone version G. Antheunis). After his return form Italy, Paris and Berlin began his career as conductor. He conducted at the Royal Muntschouwburg (1902-1907), the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse (1907), the Noord-Nederlandsche Opera in Amsterdam (1908) and from 1910 till 1912 again the Royal Muntschouwburg . He became teacher at theConservatoire Royal de Bruxelles. From 1919 he was also director of the Gemeentelijke Muziekschool in St.-Joost-ten-Node. In 1925 he left these occupations to be director of the Conservatoire Royal de Liège (till 1938). As composer Rasse was very occopied. His oeuvre contains opera’s, orchester- en .chambremusic, liedercycli, lieder and choralworks.
