Information: John Habron was born in Huddersfield, UK in 1978. John has extensive experience in music education. He has taught at the University of Southampton (Early Career Teaching Fellow in Music), Bath Spa University (Visiting Lecturer in Composition and Community Music), Winchester College and has given guest lectures at the Winchester School of Art, Bristol University and Chawton House, Alton. He is currently Senior Lecturer in Music at Coventry University and External Examiner in Composition for the University of Huddersfield. In 2008 John was made a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, who also funded his recent research project 'Moving into Composition' with a PALATINE Development Award (2010-11). This focused on teaching composition in higher education using Dalcroze Eurhythmics and led both to an HEA-funded Discipline Workshop at Coventry University and a paper presentation at the 30th World Conference of the International Society of Music Education in Thessaloniki, Greece (both 2012). Besides music education, John also researches into arts in health, music therapy, new music and music composition. In 2011 John graduated with an MA Music Therapy from the University of the West of England, Bristol. His current work is based in Manchester and focuses on group music therapy for people with dementia and their carers.
