Information: Molly Joyce is a sixteen year old composer currently residing in Pittsburgh, PA. She is an active trumpet player, and is currently studying with Pittsburgh Symphony Co-Principal Trumpet, Charles Lirette. Her achievements with the trumpet include participating in the Eastern Pittsburgh Youth Orchestra, River City Youth Brass Band, Allegheny Valley Honors Band, and the PMEA Honors Band. At the age of twelve, Molly started entering the PTA's National Reflections Contest for music composition and has earned awards as high as first place at the district level and fourth place at the state level. Upon entering high school, she began studying composition privately from Jeremy Sment and Brian Buckley, both of Duquesne University. Her composition awards include twice placing first in the Pennsylvania Federation of Music Clubs Junior Composers' Contest, placing first at the northeastern region level, and then placing second at the national level of judging. Molly was one of two winners of the Ethos New Music Society's of SUNY Fredonia, New York Young Composers' Competition and also a twice a finalist for the ASCAP Morton Gould Award, while more recently she was a first place winner in the Pikes Peak Young Composers Competition. She has also been featured on iTunes U for Fox Chapel Area High School. Also, Molly has been accepted to the Interlochen Arts Camp, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Brevard Music Center and attended Brevard Music Center with a merit award in the summer of 2008. She has studied with Kevin Puts, Robert Aldridge, Dana Howell, and Jack Stamp. More recently, Molly was offered a place in the Royal College of Music in London and plans on attending RCM for the summer semester of 2010. Molly is a member of Society of Composers, Inc., National Federation of Music Clubs, International Alliance of Women in Music, American Music Center, and the American Composers Forum.
