Information: Zbigniew Baginski was born in Szczecin on 19 January 1949. Composer and teacher. He studied composition under Tadeusz Paciorkiewicz at the State Higher School of Music in Warsaw (where he graduated with honours for his Symphony Music in 1972). He debuted with his Triptych for Clarinet and Piano in 1968. He had his international debut at the Nordiske Musikdage festival in Copenhagen in 1974. Baginski has composed several dozen works for symphony orchestras, chamber orchestras and soloists (for a full list of compositions see: www.polmic.pl), which have been performed at various prestigious musical festivals: World Music Days, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Inventionen in Berlin, many times at the Warsaw Autumn, the Musica Polonica Nova festival, the Warsaw Music meetings and also at numerous concerts in Europe, USA and Canada. The composer has been affiliated with the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music since 1974, first as a senior assistant then as a postdoctoral fellow (1979), assistant professor (1988), associate professor (1991) and full professor (2004). The title of Professor of Arts was conferred on Zbigniew Baginski in 1996. At first he worked at the Department of Music Education, then moved to the Department of Composition, Conducting and Theory of Music in 1987.
